Tracy Asbury Outdoor Adventures

In August of 1994 I left a job as manager of Marketing and Administration at Duke University Medical Center Diet and Fitness Center on campus at Durham, NC to chase an opportunity to own and operate an outdoor adventure company in West Virginia. I had previously worked for The Greenbrier Resort and there was interest in starting some nature programs, I introduced Mountain Bike and Canoe adventures in Fall 1994 then at The Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va in Spring of 1995. In 2001 we changed our business model toward a more personal and intimate mountain experience with float fishing on local rivers and biking on local trails, where we like to think of ourselves an “local knowledge”.

Over the years, our adventures have taken us across the Globe and earned us many lifelong friendships. The Swiss Alps a couple of times, The Andes Mountains of South America, The Cascades and Olympic NF of Washington State, The Pyrenees of South France and Northern Spain, The Smokey Mountains of North Carolina and the foggy peaks of the Costa Rican Jungle. We’ve ridden destinations across the globe and the Mountains of our beloved West Virginia are among the top for challenge and beauty. Lisa and I raised our two daughters, Lauren and Erin here in the mountains and they are proud Mountaineers. Lisa continues to Mountain Bike harder than most men can or do. She works as a CT tech in Virginia, I have taught elementary school Physical Education here in town since 2000.

Twenty Nine years is a long time to have been having so much fun, living in a beautiful area of the world and travel to some darn nice destinations to ride my bike. Twenty Nine beautiful years !
